Today's the DAY!

Happy Thanksgiving-Eve! Today is the beginning of my 4-day visit with Kevin, and I am ECSTATIC! He'll be here around 7 this evening, and I'll have a yummy taco dinner waiting on him :) We are leaving bright & early in the morning to head to Jackson to be with my Daddy's side of the family, then heading to Cleveland later in the afternoon to visit with Kevin's family. In the morning, we will be heading to my aunt & uncle's deer camp for some cookout, hunting & 4-wheeling fun! When we return to Starkville on Saturday, we will decorate my lil apartment for CHRISTMAS! I found my favorite Christmas CD last night while cleaning. It's jewel's Christmas CD. it's wonderful, if you don't have it, GO PURCHASE IT NOW!
Today is really dragging by at work, and I seem to be a little on the irritable side. Could be because I slept on the couch last night (i was too lazy to put my clean sheets on my bed). could be because i dreamed i birthed a mouse baby.  allow me to explain: much of my thoughts at work are centered around mice. why you ask? because behind my office is a large field where the deer and the antelope play...well not really antelope, but there are deer back there every evening. where do antelope live anyways? i digress...the mice live back there too apparently, but they've decided it's much too cold for them to stay outside...so they are coming in. through the wall in the bathroom. which happens to be 4 feet from my desk. i can hear them scratching in the walls. not a pleasant sound, people. we have traps set out for them (you know, the sticky traps where when they get caught, they just squeal and it sounds god-awful) so we are catching quite a bit, but i am absolutely DEATHLY afraid of them. i have a fear one will crawl across my foot or just hop up on my desk and say "hey how ya doin?" mice are not welcome in offices. someone should send them the memo. anyways, apparently mice are consuming my thoughts, even in my sleep. i have no idea why i dreamed i BIRTHED a mouse...i think that's a little psychotic. but there you have it. i'm a mouse-mama.
Happy Thanksgiving!

1 More Day Until the HOLIDAY..well, Holiday BREAK, that is..

so...i think i've done more work in the past 2 days than i have in the past 2 weeks. everyone wants their shirts YESTERDAY...so it's been a lil bit crazy around here. which is fine with me..it makes the day fly by and means that wednesday is just around the corner...which is the day that kevin arrives and we get to spend FOUR WHOLE DAYS together! i am totally stoked!! so a lot of my blog friends have been tagged as kreativ bloggers...whatever that is. anyways, when you get tagged, you have to list 6 interesting/weird facts about yourself. it got me to thinking about myself and my weird ticks/habits...and let me tell you, folks...i have way more than 6. so...i thought i'd waste some time and list my random facts..because i DO love making lists!! this will be my 3rd of the day :) so here goes...in no particular order....

1. i am absolutely terrified of postal workers, postal trucks, the post office...pretty much everything postal except stamps. unless i have to go buy actual stamps. i have no idea why i am afraid of these people...something about the blue uniform and the little square truck just freak me out. there used to be a man at the PO here who had a long stringy ponytail..i'm sure my fear somehow traces back to him. my friend cat can attest to this fear..she sent me to the PO one time to get the mail for our office and i called with a question...she could literally HEAR fear in my voice. thank god kevin isn't a postal worker. i'd be one sad chick.

2. i. hate. cold. food. if it's SUPPOSED to be cold (i.e pasta salad, cereal, etc.) i'm ok. but if it was once hot and is now cold..i can't eat it. it's something to do with the texture change and the smell of the cold food. spaghetti and tunafish are the WORST.  because of my hatred for cold food....

3. i despise leftovers. (except for about 3 exceptions) i will not eat them. up until a couple years ago, i wouldn't eat ANYTHING leftover. i do not mind: leftover tacos, leftover chili, or leftover red beans & rice. that is about all. i will NOT microwave chicken, i will NOT eat leftover spaghetti, and i will NOT microwave last night's grilled hamburgers. they do NOT taste the same, don't even TRY to convince me. how does one get by not eating leftovers while living alone, you ask?? ha! i'm a PRO at cutting recipes in half and making only one portion :) guess here pretty soon i'll have to learn to cook for 2 again!

4. i am very weird about texture of my food ( ok so maybe the main thing in my life that i am weird about is food...so what?). i hate anything slimy, mooshy, or runny. i hate tomatoes (mooshy), mushrooms & oysters (slimy) and eggs that are not scrambled or the yellow poked (runny). if people wouldn't look at me oddly, i would eat my food on a cafeteria or lil kid plate..because i'm also not fond of it touching.  don't judge me.

5. some days i truly think work is overrated and i can't wait to have kids and maybe stay home with them (not that that's not work, that's not my point..i think "office work" is overrated...except for the whole paycheck thing).

6. another food item...i do NOT eat chicken on the bone. ever. period. don't even think about asking me to.

7. (told you i had more than 6!) sometimes when i'm blogging, i pretend i'm carrie bradshaw. is that weird? i don't think so. she inspires me to put my words down instead of holding them in. she inspires me to take fashion risks. she inspires me to buy shoes.

8. having mentioned shoes, i should probably tell you...i have 89 pairs of shoes...and am CONSTANTLY on the lookout for another "perfect pair". a girl can never have too many shoes, i say. and if it makes you happy, i say go for it!

9. i have no desire to ever live anywhere else except the south.

10. women that are incapable of having other women friends scare the bejesus out of me.

11. i have completely lost touch with more than most of my friends from high school and it makes me sad every day.

12. i can't buy oreos. if i do, they are gone in 3 days, TOPS. i am addicted. seriously.

13. flossie jayne is quite possibly the best friend i've ever had. she doesn't judge. she loves me. and she gives me kisses. i love her.

14. carnies also freak me out just a lil bit. i'm pretty easily scared.

15. i wish it was christmas every day.

16. i HATE staying in "motels". i like to stay in a "hotel" where there is a lobby and an intruder would have to go past a front desk to get to my room.

ok so i can't think of anything else, as the facts are getting a little boring. i guess i was just interested in killing a little time....and that i did! :) HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Pictures from the weekend!

OK so i tried to put all these pictures in with the last post..but apparently i suck at adding pictures...so here are the pictures that go with the previous post! Enjoy! :)

Happy Hump Day!

No, I haven't abandoned my blog. I've just been waiting on pictures to post of my fabulous weekend! The party for my mama  went absolutely fabulously..except for a couple of minor scheduling details. She literally almost peed in her pants when she saw my aunt walk through the door! She was so excited.

They spent the day together just hanging out and catching up, while Kevin & I spent some time together..Lindsay cut his hair, and waxed my eyebrows, and then we got ready for the party. I'm pretty impressed with myself for putting the whole party together, food & all, by myself. The kabobs were so yummy and the cake was exceptional, if i do say so myself! We sat around, talked, laughed, watched football (i will not be discussion MSU's unmentionable football season, nor will i be discussing Ole Miss's bowl eligibility), and had a wonderful time. Around 7:30-ish, kevin, aunt tina & i headed to grenada to take her back to her hubby at their deer camp. No lie, on the way there & back, we probably saw 30 deer...VERY close to the highway! These things are NOT scared! After almost running out of gas, Kevin & i made it back to my apartment right at midnight...and super crashed. It was a LONG day! Sunday was definitely a LATE sleeping day..i got up around 9 and made breakfast, which was yummy, except for my burned biscuits (my grandmother would be ashamed of me!), and we had breakfast and watched Lonesome Dove, one of my most favorite movies! After a lazy morning, we got ready for Christen & Brad's wedding. It was a nice ceremony, and reception. I love wedding receptions. and even more than wedding receptions, i love wedding CAKE! After the wedding, we met my dad at the bowling alley and bowled a few games with him. I did not do too terribly bad...for once! After bowling, we went to dinner with my parents and had the most yummy Chinese food i've had in a LONG time. Then comes the part of the weekend that i hate...when i have to say bye to Kevin. It sucks! He had a safe trip home, though, thank goodness!
This week hasn't been too overwhelmingly busy for me. Things are still continually slow in advertising land. Done a couple orders this week, and finished a huge project, so it was nice to mark that off my list of to-do's. It's been ULTRA cold this week!! I went to my mama's last night and got my winter coat so i can be all snuggly warm when i head out for the delta this weekend. I'll be heading to Cleveland Friday night. We'll be going to Dylan's birthday party Saturday, and then i'll be home sunday night. Next week will be a THREE DAY WEEK! wahoo!! and i'll get to spend Wednesday-Sunday with Kevin..which makes me ecstatic! He'll be coming here Wednesday night, and helping me make something for my Mamaw's Thanksgiving dinner, and we'll head to Jackson on Thursday morning. After lunch with my Dad's side of the family, Kevin & I will head to Cleveland to be with his family. Friday after lunch, we'll head to Tina & Glenn's deer camp for some fun around the fire...and Saturday, we'll come back to Starkville to put up all my Christmas decorations! It's going to be a busy, busy weekend..but I am so looking forward to it!
Can't complain about too much right now :) i am so happy and in such a good place. Some changes in the very near future are inevitable, but i am at peace with whatever happens, either way. Just gotta pray about it and i know the right decision will be made!

I am so excited for the weekend festivities, and my mom is excited too, and that makes it all worth it! :) i love love love surprises!!

Lots to talk about on this Thursday!

So, I've abandoned my blog this week, except for my nod to Christmas on Monday. Sorry, readers! It's been a busy week for me...and one that has lacked sleep! Tuesday, I left work at 5 PM and headed to the delta to watch Kevin bowl. After bowling, we headed to my aunt & uncle's house for a quick visit. The visit turned into planning a birthday party for my mama for the weekend, which i am so pumped about! We finally made it to bed around midnight...only to get up at 5:30 AM the next morning. If you know me, you know i NEVER get up that early...and if I do, I'm pretty grumpy. It was POURING, so my drive back to Starkville was slow, to say the least. I arrived at work at around 9:30, without going to see sweet Braylon in the hospital, which was my original plan. He had his tubes done and all went well, and he's doing great. Here is a picture from my mid-week Delta visit, even though I look dead....

In other news, this weekend is my Mama's birthday, as I mentioned above. Friday, I will be  babysitting the 2 cutest kids in the ENTIRE WORLD ( duh, taylee & braylon) while my sister and Dallas attend a rehearsal dinner (at Barnhill's....????? wtf.) and then have a few drinks with Angela, who will be in town. I am excited to spend some QT with those sweet babies. Saturday morning, Kevin will be arriving for a visit...with my Aunt Tina, who is coming for the day to celebrate my mom's birthday with her. Saturday night will be spent at my parent's home with the ENTIRE family (mom, dad, me, kevin, lindsay, dallas, taylee & braylon, and aunt tina) celebrating Beana's birth. Lindsay and I have taken it upon ourselves to plan a little partay for our mom, who ALWAYS plans and does for us. We are going to grill chicken kabobs and sausage, and get a cake..and perhaps Aunt Tina will bring a spinach dip ( :) ). Saturday evening, kevin & i will return tina to her sweet hubby at their deer camp..and then SLEEP LATE on sunday. I have a wedding to attend on Sunday afternoon, and kevin will be my date :) i have no idea what i am going to wear...ugh!!!
I slept ULTRA late today..like almost til 8:00. Luckily my sweet mama called me to say good morning and i shot out of bed, and i dont think i was overly friendly to her on the phone! Sorry, Mama!! :) I'm FINALLY waking up....but it's going to be a long day, i can feel it.
So..i'm FINALLY posting pictures that were promised from my Savannah trip! i know, i know it only took 2 weeks to get them! It's just a few of me and my "nephew" Aiden :) it was my first time to meet him, and let's face it, he loves me. I'm quite a fan of his too :) we had a fabulous time shopping and playing...he told me when i left that when i come back, i CANNOT be sick! :)

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like.....

CHRISTMAS!!! Ok...so really, it's not. But I am so excited I can barely stand it! Once Halloween is over, I usually go into super-Christmas mode. I had to really try hard to restrain myself from putting up my fabulous Christmas decorations this weekend. I'm trying to wait until the day after Thanksgiving....but maybe I can persuade a sweet, sweet man into helping me this weekend....We'll see. I have a wonderful weekend to blog about..but at this time, I don't have much time..or energy. I am super ultra tired today...and I'm busy at work, so I'm embracing that! (see post below) So...I'm going to feed my Christmas spirit by doing a quick survey :) (Enjoy, Aunt Tina!)

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? i. hate. gift bags. I like to wrap EACH gift with love...in coordinating wrapping paper. Last year I discovered the most wonderful thing...I call it a "theme in a box". It's a box of 3 coordinating rolls of wrapping paper, with bows AND gift tags. While I prefer to make my own gift tags, this is truly a GENIUS invention. I can't wait to select my theme for this year!!! Decisions, decisions!
2. Real tree or Artificial? When I have my very own family and house and all that fun stuff, i will insist upon a real tree. For now, in my apartment, I will settle for artificial.
3. When do you put up the tree? Not-so-patiently waiting until the day after Thanksgiving.
4. When do you take the tree down? New Year's Day. This is a rule.
5. Do you like eggnog? No, but I like apple cider. :)
6. Favorite gift received as a child? Hmmm...I am sure i have lots of "favorites" and I am sure at one time, everything was my "favorite". In my adult life, my favorite Christmas gift was...duh..my Flossie Jayne.
8. Easiest person to buy for? Lindsay...if I would like to buy it for myself, she will like it.
9. Do you have a nativity scene? No..but I would really like a Willow Tree one to put on my mantle this year. Because, I have a mantle this year. Can you sense the excitement??? MORE SPACE TO DECORATE!
10. Mail or email Christmas cards? I always say I'm going to do Christmas cards...and I never do. But i would like to...if that counts for anything!
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Hmmm...I can't think of a truly AWFUL gift.
12.
Favorite Christmas Movie? ELF, Love Actually, The Holiday, Christmas Vacation, Smoky Mountain Christmas, One Magic Christmas....i like christmas. just a little bit. BUT i hate that stupid Christmas Story movie that they play 24/7 the ENTIRE MONTH OF DECEMBER. UGH.
13.
When do you start shopping for Christmas? Again, I always say i'm going to start early...but alas, i do not. I'll probably start next week....who am i kidding?? i won't...but i'll finish my list I'm SURE.
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? No I have not.
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Apple cider (the question should read eat OR drink), white chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered cherries, and breakfast casserole on Christmas morning.
16. Lights on the tree? OF COURSE (especially since my tree is pre-lit :) ). ONLY white ones though..no colored. Another rule.
17. Favorite Christmas song? O Holy Night, Baby It's Cold Outside, and Face of Love.
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Either or. I just like to be with family & loved ones.
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's? Of course! I plan on teaching Taylee Bugg to do that this year!
20.
Angel on the tree top or a star? I have a pretty silver star.
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Christnmas morning.
22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? When people get so angry about shopping and get moody and don't remember why we even celebrate CHRISTmas.
23. Favorite ornament theme or color? Well..i never had a "theme" until last year when i purchased my very own Christmas tree. It's a white tree, which is ultra trendy, i know..and i have pink, green & blue ornaments to go on it. It's very cute and very ME!
24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? Typical dressing, turkey & hashbrown casserole....
25. What do you want for Christmas this year? I'm actually very happy with everything i've been blessed with right now. So i guess I want things to stay just as they are :)

tgif, people.

So...I'm wearing the FABULOUS new shoes i purchased earlier this week...and am near TEARS doing so. These are the most UNCOMFORTABLE shoes i have ever worn in my whole entire LIFE. Seriously.  I guess because they are a wedge, they dont "give"...well, i'm here to tell you, if they don't start to "give" soon, i'm going to "give" them back!!! sucks, too...because they are ultra-cute.
So it's been another slow day at work....which is really starting to worry me a little bit. We've been assured that as of right now, as long as sales stay up, we are fine. But i am naturally a worrier...thus, I worry. It's no secret that when the economy is bad, advertising is one of the first budgets cut (for those of you who aren't aware, i work in advertising...now are you seeing my dilemma?). Being the last hired here at Dux D'Lux, i fear i will be the first one to go when the economy can no longer allow people to spend advertising dollars. And i'm here to tell you, that really sucks. For the first time in a LONG time, I really LOVE my job. Sure, there are days when I'd rather eat a salty lemon (just like my pregnant co-worker and friend Holley) than go to work...but most days I am happy to be here. All that to say...I really like my job and I really like my house and the things in my house..and I really like spending my money...so I'd kind of like it to stay that way. Thankyouverymuch.
I had to make the monthly trek to Wal Mart last night...you konw, for TP, paper towels, dishwashing stuff....all that jazz. It was an expensive trip! I hadn't bought groceries in over a month, because i've been going so much, and I also had to purchase a fan-dancy new hair dryer...as mine blew up in my hands Thursday morning. It was a bad hair day that day.
Tonight, I am going home to a bubble bath, give myself a pedicure and watch a movie. Early to bed, because Kevin will be here tomorrow! Looking so forward to spending another weekend with him, as things are really moving along quite nicely. Cleveland is just too stinkin' far away!!! :) Tomorrow night I'm making a BIG pot of chili for us, my sister & her boyfriend, and Holley & Wilson (and their lil pea). Then it's off to a night of bowling...should be fun. Sunday will be spent with my family...looking forward to a nice weekend. It's sooo fall-ish outside..and I love it!
Happy Weekend!

Slow Wednesday Afternoon...

So i've been a blog slacker this week...sorry about that to the two of you that read this :)  It's not been a busy week...in fact, quite the opposite. I have been cleaning 1 room of my apartment each night this week, in hopes that I will have it clean for my VERY important company on Friday (HOPEFULLY Friday!). Tonight, I'm taking a break from cleaning to get my hair highlighted..thanks to my wonderful sister for working late to fit me in! Tomorrow evening will be spent at the grocery store since i haven't bought groceries in about a month! my fridge is looking quite bare! and I'm sure Flossie Jayne would like some yummies...since her lil cannister of food is almost empty, except for a few crumbs! Poor lil angel face!
Yesterday was ELECTION DAY...as I'm sure you're ALL aware. This year I decided to become a grown up and register to vote..and become informed on the issues and make my own decision, and exercise my American right to vote. So for the past month or two i have paid attention to the news, instead of just switching the channel (even though I only get two). I've thought a lot about the issues, and what i want out of our President. After making my decision (no, i will not share it with the world wide web, as I dont want anonymous comments, but if you know me, i'm sure you know how my decision ended), I was proud of myself and sat back and waited for election day to come around. Jump to yesterday....and lines at EVERY voter post (i dont really know what the technical name for the place you vote is, so i'm going to call it a voting post, VP, if you will) were HOURS long. I drove by my VP at 8 15, 12 30, 1 30 and 5 30 to attempt to vote. ALL LINES WERE OUTRAGEOUS. So, this proudly informed, registered voter...alas, did not vote. I know..i should be ashamed. Not only did i not vote, but now i am one of those REGISTER voters that did not vote. I am making no excuses, i just plain old didnt want to stand in line..especially at 5 30 when it was dark and cold. not so much. SO...on the day after election day, i'm taking it all in..and trying not to beat myself up for not voting. I'm not one of those peeps who thinks only 1 vote doesn't matter...but in the landslide that was this election, my little vote certainly wasn't missed. But maybe if all of us who didnt want to stand in line had been patient and waited...just maybe things would be different today. who knows? Anyways...political, i am not...so i'm going to step off my soapbox now.
Got some really cute shoes today....Hmm...you know, it seems that almost every blog i talk about a new pair of shoes that i have purchased. I am not obsessed...ok well yes i am. BUT...i am a DEFINITE bargain searcher, as well as a lover of payless...so my shoe addiction doesn't put TOO many dents in my checking account. This particular pair (see picture below) came from Zappos (and let it be noted that is the first time i have ever LINKED anything!). If you've never vistited this site, you should. it's wonderful..and has really good sale items! Anyways..my friend Sadie gave me a gift certificate to this site...so i snatched up this pair of shoes yesterday...and the nice people at Zappos upgraded my shipping to NEXT DAY for FREE. LOVE THEM!
Hmmm....let's see what else i can inform you of...Still some REALLY amazingly fabulous things going on with me right now...after a really, really rough past few months, my life is taking a really nice turn. I feel like i'm in a dream..and i NEVER want to wake up. It's crazy. I will share with my readership when i have more time to right...but just know i am happy, happy! :)
