2008

So, I'm bored again today..and i thought i'd do a survey. I came across this one on claire's blog, and thought it was appropriate for the season. Here's to a great 2008, and an even greater (i am aware that that isn't a word and i care not) 2009!

1. What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before?
I made time for myself and realized that it's ok to do this. and also that it's NECESSARY to do this.

2. Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions and will you make more for next year?
I don't actually remember if i made resolutions from 2007, and i doubt i'll make any this year!

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
OH MY YES! my sweet sister had sweet sweet Braylon, and Cat had lil Aiden.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Julie Marie. Sweet sweet girl.

5. What countries did you visit?
Just hung out in the U.S this year...maybe next year I'll get my passport stamped...but first i have to get a passport...

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
an engagement and a wedding :)

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Learning to be more independent and rely on myself.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Weakness & heartache.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nope, can't say that I did.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
OMG....let me think....i'm going to have to go with my pink satin shoes.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Flossie Jayne's. She's gotten really good at being housebroken, but when it's super cold...we tend to slip a little!

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
A number of unmentionable people. They know who they are.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Shoes, groceries, gas.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
I get really, really, really excited everytime i get an opportunity to see Kevin these days .

16. What song will always remind you of 2008?

17. Compared to this time last year, are you: Happier or sadder? Thinner or fatter? Richer or poorer?
Happier, SAME, SAME

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Being thankful for the things that i DO have.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Crying over the things that i DIDN'T have.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Most likely, Christmas Eve with my family & Kevin, and Christmas Day with Kevin & his family

21. Did you fall in love in 2008?
I sure did. And i'm never looking back :)

DUH...Sex and the City!

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
On my actual birthday, I went to my parents house and listened to Taylee say "happy day, emmy!" over and over and let her help me open presents. I was 27 whole years old...

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Not a thing...i'm perfectly happy the way it's turned out.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
I little of this, and a little of that. My fashion sense is getting more eclectic as i get older...i like to think i'm a small-town version of carrie bradshaw :)

34. What kept you sane?
my family...who also at some times made me insane. kevin helps a lot. i'm pretty fond of him :)

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Kevin, without a doubt :)

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008.
Be true to yourself, and be yourself, no matter what.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
Seasons come and seasons go
One day sun, the next day snow
Flowers die and flowers grow
But love is never-ending

You can't kill it with goodbye
It always finds a place to hide
Inside your heart for your whole life
Love is never-ending

[Chorus]
When the lights have all gone down
It'll still be hangin' 'round
Even when you think it's lost, it can still be found
When every memory has been made
And the pages start to fade
And every prayer you ever prayed is heaven bound
When you think the ride is over
You're back at the beginning
Love is never-ending

When a man and woman start growin' old
The fire of passion may grow cold
But what they got still warms their soul
Love is never-ending

[Repeat chorus]

It keeps goin' on and on
Long after we're all gone away

Time may change what you believe
But one day the truth will set you free
Just have faith and you will see
Love is never-ending
Love is never-ending

mondays are no fun.

so today is monday. i hate mondays. mostly because they follow sundays...and by sunday evening..kevin and i are usually apart. this long distance stuff is really beginning to suck. weekends are just not long enough. i DID find out today though, that subleasing my apartment IS an option, so as long as a job comes together, i could be remedying this situation relatively soon. keeping my fingers crossed. because i really miss kevin. a lot.
in other news, my car died today. on the highway. with me in it.
i. hate. mondays.

happy friday, ya'll!

is it me, or has it been a really, really long week? perhaps it just felt long because last week was only 3 days..who knows? whatever the reason is, i'm just glad it's friday..and better than that, it's PAYCHECK friday! wahooo!
so this morning, i decided since i was already up a little earlier, i'd curl my hair (picture carried bradshaw, circa SATC season 4, after breakup with aiden..her hair is short & loosely curly & fabulous)...i do this every now and then..sometimes it looks oh-so-cute and sometimes it just doesn't. well when i left my house in my cute lil blazer & pink collar shirt, i felt SUPER ultra cute. now, 3 hours later, i do not so much. something has happened to my precious curls...and alas, my hair is in a ponytail now. boo. what sucks even more is that i'm heading directly to cleveland after work, and taking 30 minutes to stop off at home and fix my hair is not an option :(. my fallen curls have crushed my day.
but at any rate, i'm headed to the delta tonight. hanging out with family tonight i think. tomorrow, kevin has to work :( but i will find something to get into, i am sure! tomorrow night, i think we are heading to a christmas party at crawdad's...i'm looking forward to dressing up, hearing a band and having a fun time with kevin!
oh..and...i can't wear my earrings when my hair is in a ponytail. they are much too large. today sucks.

What a LONG Weekend!!

i. am. exhausted. in SUCH a good way though! i had the most wonderful, long weekend ever! wednesday night kevin arrived around 7 30 pm and we had dinner together and went to bed early. we woke up early thursday morning and headed out to jackson to visit with my dad's side of the family and each thanksgiving lunch with them (pictures to come soon). after lunch and dessert and a little more visiting, we headed to cleveland. after a stop in indianola to visit my friend melanie, who i was SOOOO thrilled to see, we arrived in cleveland between 4 and 5. we ran a couple errands, then headed to kevin's aunt & uncle's house, where i met the rest of his family that i hadn't met yet. they were all so sweet to me and welcomed me into their home as if they'd known me forever :). i was thrilled to meet his sweet, sweet family. after more visiting, we were pretty exhausted, not to mention STUFFED (after 2 thanksgiving meals and 2 rounds of dessert...1 of which consisted of a HOMEMADE italian cream cake...it rocked my face off), so we headed back to his house and changed in to comfy (expandable) clothes, and headed to visit my aunt tina & uncle glen for a while. friday morning, we got up EARLY and packed warm clothes to head to the woods for some bonfiring, cooking & hunting (well, i didnt hunt anything except heat...). after about 4 trillion errands, none of which went according to our plan, and a stop for donuts..we were FINALLY on our way to the woods.  and let me tell you it was chilly..and rainy!! but we had a fun time just hanging out by the fire, and riding 4-wheelers! i dont think any of the men folk ever shot a deer...but i'm really not sure. i'm not into all the hunting "lingo"...but this weekend, i'm proud to say i learned what a deer stand is, what a spike is, and many, many other useful things for the next time i attend deer camp. here are a few pictures from the woods!
